Governing Body

The school governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to our school and its community. We are all volunteers and each bring different skills and experiences so that the governing body is both balanced and capable. Different aspects of governance are delegated to sub-committees; the main ones being Curriculum, Personnel, Finance & Premises and School Travel Plan. That said, all decisions and responsibilities lie with the full governing body, not individual governors.

Our three areas of responsibility are:

Establishing the strategic direction, by:

  • Setting the vision, values and objectives for the school
  • Supporting the Headteacher, who is responsible for implementing policies, for day-to-day management of the school and for delivering the curriculum

Ensuring accountability, by:

  • Monitoring progress towards targets
  • Engaging with stakeholders

Ensuring financial probity, by:

  • Setting the budget
  • Ensuring value for money is obtained

Our School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils. This includes promoting British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

1. Main Meeting Attendance: The Statutory Obligation is to record the number of meetings attended ( with the total possible in brackets). In addition to this, governors will usually spend
further time in School for individual meetings, will be attending training. If a governor is unable to attend a meeting, they often provide input and comment by e-mail.
2. Business interests encompasses any relationship with other educational institutions. Close relations is if they are related to a school staff member.
